Food Supplements

A nutrient is any element or compound necessary for or contributing to an organism's metabolism, growth, or other functioning.

Six nutrient groups exist, classifiable as those that provide energy and as those that otherwise support metabolic processes in the body:

Substances that provide energy

Carbohydrates: compounds made up of sugars used or stored as energy
Proteins: nitrogenous organic compounds, including amino acids, that provide the building blocks (amino acids) for enzymes and other proteins within the body.
The body does not manufacture certain amino acids (termed essential amino acids): the diet must supply these
Fats: including fatty acids (a fat consists of an assemblage of three fatty acids linked to a central glycerin molecule).
The body does not manufacture certain fatty acids (termed essential fatty acids): the diet must supply these.

Substances that support metabolism

Minerals: generally trace elements, salts, or ions such as copper and iron; essential to normal metabolism
Vitamins: organic compounds essential to the body's functioning, usually acting as coenzymes
Water: absolute requirement for normal growth and metabolism directly involved in all the chemical reactions of life.

Probiotics the next building block.

Probiotics means "for life" and this name is now mostly used to refer to concentrated supplements of beneficial or good bacteria taken by humans and animals.

It is known what bad bacteria can do to us.
Doctors have tried to clean them away or kill them with antibiotics. However, antibiotics don't work as well as they used to, and some bacteria survive all antibiotics.

Therefore we no focus on Probiotics or also called - The good and friendly bacteria - .
These promote the body's natural immunity, keep us healthy and help our digestion and very important . they may keep the bad bacteria level lower.

There are many types of good bacteria in our body that we need. You may have heard of acidophilus for example.

Inside us live vast numbers of beneficial bacteria all of which are need to stay in good health. Our gastrointestinal tract is home to more than 400 different species of bacteria weighing one and a half kilograms.

This large quantity of working bacteria performs very important functions in our body. Starting from the mouth all the way down to the rectum.

If we live in harmony with them they provide for us, if they are given a reasonable diet and kept in good health.

This leads us to Food Supplements.

A supplement is defined as:
Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole.

In today's world there is no way of knowing the nutrient value of the food we buy in the grocery stores.

Tests have shown that an orange can contain from zero to 180 milligrams of vitamin C.
A lettuce stored at room temperature loses 50 percent of its vitamin C in twenty four hours.
The vitamin A content of raw carrots may vary from 70 IU to 18500 IU for a normal serving.
Vitamin E in wheat germ varies from 3.2 IU to 21 IU per 100 grams.
The selenium content of some foods varies by a factor of 200.
Selenium is becoming more and more deficient in the farm soils.
Ninety percent of the population in the US consumes diets deficient in zinc.
White bread made with "enriched flour" has had thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, calcium and iron added back, but it has lost its pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, folic acid, vitamin E, magnesium, zinc, copper, phosphorus and manganese.

To address nutritional deficiencies and add, or strengthen the probiotics to aide absorption into the body Food Supplements have become a necessity.
